About this opportunity

The Childcare Fund provides financial assistance to eligible full-time students at the University of Strathclyde to help with registered childcare costs. This fund is intended to provide a significant contribution to childcare costs, though not necessarily covering the full cost of wraparound, full-time childcare. To qualify, children must be under 15 years old, or under 17 if they have special educational needs. Childcare Fund awards are granted in addition to any other funding a student receives, including student loans, bursaries, and grants. Students must be in receipt of their full SAAS funding package, including tuition fees, the full living-cost loan, and the special support loan. Childcare providers must be registered with the Care Inspectorate, and students must have utilized all funded early learning and childcare (ELC) options to be eligible. The fund is allocated by the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) to the University, which administers it according to specific policy guidelines. Awards are paid monthly into students' bank accounts and are reassessed only if there is a significant change in circumstances. The fund covers various academic programs including undergraduate, postgraduate taught, BA Social Work, and PGDE programs, with specific date ranges for each. Applications are required each semester, with separate application periods for semester 1 and semester 2 childcare needs.
