About This Opportunity

The China Scholarship Council (CSC), in partnership with the University of Leicester, has up to 25 full scholarships per annum available for outstanding Chinese students to undertake full-time PhD study at the University of Leicester. The CSC and University of Leicester support prioritised areas of study including Human Health, Earth and Environment, Heritage and Culture, Social Equality, Molecules and Materials, Astrophysics and Planetary Science, Clean Energy and Sustainability, and AI, Data Science and Modelling. Other subjects may be considered subject to the availability of relevant research expertise. The CSC provides living stipend, medical insurance and international roundtrip airfare, while the University of Leicester provides overseas tuition fee waiver and covers bench fees for laboratory based subjects up to £5,000 per annum. The joint funding supports each scholarship recipient for up to 48 months.

Review process

Applications first reviewed by University of Leicester, which issues conditional offer letters to successful candidates and provides nomination list to CSC. CSC then conducts qualification review and expert panel review on shortlisted candidates.
