About this opportunity
This scholarship supports PhD students in any faculty at the University of Sydney who are conducting research in the discipline of agriculture. Established in 1975 from a bequest from Mrs Christian Rowe Thornett, the scholarship provides both a primary stipend scholarship and a supplementary scholarship for doctoral research. The stipend scholarship provides an annual stipend equivalent to the minimum Research Training Program (RTP) rate, while the supplementary scholarship provides an additional $10,000 per year. Research areas supported include plant breeding and production, carbon, water, soil, food quality and safety, livestock, dairying, field robotics, agricultural data analytics, agricultural/resource economics and development agriculture. Recipients must be full-time PhD students conducting agricultural research and must have applied for the Research Training Program at the University of Sydney. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit, area of study and research proposal, and a personal statement demonstrating interest in agriculture.
