About this opportunity
This entrance scholarship is offered by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) through their MER Society. The scholarship is open to any CIM National member or the son, daughter or spouse of a CIM National member entering a post-secondary educational institution. The award supports students pursuing studies in the Maintenance, Engineering and Reliability (MER) disciplines with the intent of pursuing a career in the mining industry. The MER disciplines comprise engineering or technologist level studies in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Chemical, Computer Sciences, Material Sciences, Manufacturing, and related disciplines. Selection is based on scholastic achievement, community involvement, extracurricular activities such as sports, hobbies, and organizations, as well as receipt of other scholarships. Applicants must submit transcripts, personal information about activities, and an essay stating why they are considering a career in the mining industry.
