About this opportunity
A scholarship, valued at $1,500, will be awarded annually to a graduate student registered full-time in a master's program in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering who persevered to return to school after a period of time away (e.g. five years) from academics. This fund is made possible by a donation from Ruth A. Sprenger in honour of her husband, C.J. Dick Sprenger who began his university studies as a mature student and went on to graduate from the University of Waterloo in 1969 with a MA Sc. in Management Sciences. Selection is based on academic excellence with a minimum 80% cumulative average or equivalent in current or previously attended postsecondary program combined with a personal statement describing their experience and perseverance to return to full-time studies. The award is in addition to the minimum guaranteed funding and can be held in conjunction with other major awards.
