Clara Collet Departmental Scholarship

The Clara Collet Departmental Scholarship is a highly competitive 4-year PhD scholarship offered by the Department of Political Science at UCL. The scholarship covers full tuition fees and provides a tax-free stipend of £21,870 per year (2026/27 rate to be confirmed). The scholarships are allocated solely based on academic merit and research potential. The 4 years of funding accommodate two pathways: students arriving with a Master's degree can pursue a 4-year PhD, or students can first complete a Master's degree within the department followed by a 3-year PhD programme (1+3 route). The scholarship includes a teaching requirement starting from year 1, with 110 hours in the first year (training and second marking only) and 180 hours per annum in years 2, 3, and 4, including both contact and non-contact hours. The scholarship is open to UK, EU, and overseas PhD students. Candidates must indicate their interest in the Clara Collet awards on their application form.
