About This Opportunity

The Clark-Ryan Family Scholarship is part of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship Scheme at the University of Queensland. Established in 2023 under the Queensland Commitment initiative, this scholarship is maintained by income from gifts from Dr Peter Clark Ryan and Dr Edith Hampson and Alumni Friends. The scholarship provides financial support of at least $4,500 for one year to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander undergraduate students experiencing financial hardship. The scholarship aims to support Indigenous students pursuing undergraduate studies across all study areas at UQ. Selection is based on demonstrated financial hardship, personal qualities including leadership potential, academic ability, and other factors relevant to future academic success. Preference is given to students from Quandamooka country studying health sciences, commerce, economics, science or law, followed by any students studying in these fields. Applicants must submit one application to be considered for all scholarships in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship Scheme. Supporting documentation regarding financial circumstances, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status, academic achievement, and community service or leadership achievements may be required.
