About this opportunity
In honor of their 50th Reunion from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, the Class of 1959 was committed to finding a class gift that was of importance to their aging generation. The Class of 1959 Nursing Scholarship Endowment would forever help to ensure quality healthcare for themselves, their loved ones, and for the generations to come. The purpose of the scholarship is to offset the cost of education for a student pursuing a Ph.D. in Nursing. The current national nursing shortage is a major public health problem. This scholarship will help to offset this nursing shortage by creating more faculty members which will, in turn, increase the number of students enrolled in nursing programs. The recipient of the Class of 1959 Nursing Scholarship Endowment will receive support for academic and research activities related to obtaining a Ph.D. in the Elaine Marieb College of Nursing based on exceptional merit, promise and financial need.
