About this opportunity
This scholarship is awarded to a full-time student entering the Bachelor of Education Program who has demonstrated commitment to social justice issues through involvement across the UPEI campus or another university campus while completing an undergraduate degree, and/or in the broader community. The award honors Peter 'Cletus' Murphy (1918-2003), who was born in Millvale, PE and enjoyed a 35-year teaching career in Prince Edward Island. Throughout his life, Cletus contributed significantly to his church and community through various organizations and volunteer work. The scholarship was established by his daughter Norma Jean Murphy, a Professor in the School of Nursing at Dalhousie University, in recognition of her father's contributions to the Charlottetown community and his dedication to education and social justice.
