About This Opportunity

The Climate Leaders Scholarship is offered by the University of Sussex to support new students who demonstrate a strong track record of environmental activism and climate action. Sussex is offering five scholarships worth £3,000 each to students starting courses in September 2026 across undergraduate, taught masters, and research postgraduate programs in any subject (with some exclusions). The scholarship aligns with Sussex's strategic goal to become one of the most sustainable universities in the world and demonstrate global leadership in environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Scholarship recipients receive £3,000 in cash per year of full-time study, paid in three termly installments (October, January, and May). Part-time students receive the award in £500 installments across the duration of their course. Beyond financial support, recipients are provided with mentoring and support to develop high-level project plans. Eligible applicants must be UK students classified as 'Home' for fees purposes, have accepted a place on an eligible course commencing in September 2026, demonstrate a personal track record of active environmentalism with real-world impact, and commit to collaborating with the University and local community to encourage pledges toward Net Zero and tackling the climate crisis. The scholarship excludes current Sussex students and certain courses including certificates, diplomas, BSMS courses, online courses, and specific development-related master's programs.
