About This Opportunity

The Colin Grant Charitable Trust was established from the estate of Colin Grant of Auchmithie, Arbroath, who died on 10 August 2001. The trust distributes annual income to recognised charitable institutions as chosen by the trustees. Trustees meet twice yearly in March and September to consider applications and make awards to worthy recognised charities. The annual distribution supports voluntary groups based in or supporting work in Angus, Scotland, with particular focus on Arbroath. The trust is particularly keen to support projects that improve the quality of life of Angus residents, organizations involved in community activities, groups assisting the disadvantaged and those isolated by mainstream society, groups assisting the elderly and the sick, activities promoting good citizenship in the young, and projects promoting sport and artistic development. The trustees evaluate applications based on the suitability and strengths of applicant organisations, with particular regard to the enthusiasm, vision, efficiency and resourcefulness of the applicant organisation. The trust will not normally give grants to organizations that are not recognised charities by the Inland Revenue, individuals including students, sponsorship or marketing appeals, activities collecting funds for redistribution to others, or expeditions and overseas travel.
