About this opportunity
The Columbine Memorial Scholarship for teachers supports engaged Jefferson County School District teachers who have made a positive impact in their school and/or larger community. This scholarship was founded by Rocky Mountain News and Jeffco Schools Foundation using contributions received following the tragic events at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. The scholarship honors twelve students and one teacher who died that day, with the hope that recipients will carry on their legacy by making a positive and lasting impact in the world. Award amounts may be used toward tuition, fees, or required books and supplies for coursework that will further the recipient's career in education or toward recertification. Applicants can be enrolled in undergraduate or graduate-level work and do not need to be pursuing a degree. Applications are reviewed based on references, essay responses, community engagement and leadership, academic performance, and financial need.
