About This Opportunity

This Scholarship was established to assist an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student studying a postgraduate degree in Art Curating or Museum and Heritage Studies at the University of Sydney. The scholarship provides financial support to domestic students who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and are enrolled in postgraduate programs including Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, or Master's degrees in Art Curating or Museum and Heritage Studies within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The scholarship is awarded based on confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity and a personal statement demonstrating commitment to Art Curating or Museum and Heritage Studies. Preference is given to applicants demonstrating financial or other hardship, and where applicants demonstrate equal levels of hardship, preference is given by academic merit. The selection is made by a panel that includes Degree Directors and at least one Indigenous staff member. Recipients must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 50 each semester to continue receiving the scholarship. The scholarship is tenable for up to one year for full-time Graduate Diploma and Master's students, or up to six months for full-time Graduate Certificate students, with proportional arrangements for part-time students. The funding is paid in instalments after census dates and can be deferred or suspended for up to 6 months with appropriate permission.
