About This Opportunity
The Community Care Grant is a financial assistance program for people on low income in Scotland who need extra money to live independently. You do not need to pay the money back. The grant is available to help people who are 16 or over and on a low income, regardless of whether they are receiving benefits. The grant supports various situations including moving into a settled home after being homeless, leaving care or remaining out of care, leaving prison or caring for someone who's left prison, or leaving domestic abuse. The grant can pay for essential items such as clothing, furniture, bedding, white goods for your home (fridge or washing machine), connection costs for utilities like gas and electricity, costs of moving home, costs of getting a new job, and certain travel costs such as travelling to a hospital to visit someone. Recipients may be given the things they need directly instead of money to buy them. The grant cannot be used for rent or a deposit.
