About this opportunity

The Conservation and Scientific Research Fellowship at The Metropolitan Museum of Art supports junior and senior conservators and scientists pursuing advanced training and independent research projects. Fellows work in close collaboration with curators to study, preserve, and conserve works of art across The Met collection. Fellows are paired with a supervisor within their host department and have access to The Met collection, staff, libraries, research facilities, labs, and the time and space needed to complete their manuscripts, doctoral dissertations, scholarly articles, conservation training, research experiments, and other pursuits. The fellowship runs for one academic year from September 1, 2026 through August 31, 2027. Junior fellows receive a stipend of $47,000 while senior fellows receive $57,000, plus an additional $6,000 for travel and a monthly payment to offset health insurance costs.
