About this opportunity
The Constable Bernard Mullally Bursary is awarded to a student entering studies at the University of Prince Edward Island who intends to pursue their degree from UPEI. The award is based on financial need and provides $220 to support students in their educational journey. This scholarship was established by colleagues, family and friends of Constable Bernard Mullally who died in a tragic car accident while on duty in 1973. Constable Mullally was twenty-two years old at the time of his death and was survived by his wife Darlene and two-year-old daughter Kelly. In 2004, he was recognized as the only police officer to die in the line of duty in Prince Edward Island, receiving special recognition at the Annual Atlantic Police and Correctional Officers Memorial Services. The bursary provides a permanent public memorial to Constable Mullally, honoring a man who cared about young people and was always willing to offer a helping hand.
