About this opportunity
This annual scholarship is awarded to a student in the UPEI Faculty of Nursing who has the highest academic achievement in his or her first year of study and who is not already on scholarship. The successful student must be returning to the second year of the program at UPEI. The scholarship was established by Cordelia Harrington Ramsay-Butler, a native of Spring Valley, PEI, who attended Prince of Wales College and later entered Nursing at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, where she received her RN degree. Mrs. Harrington Ramsay-Butler had an extensive nursing career serving in various leadership positions including head nurse at Prince County Hospital for 11 years, supervisory position in Medicine Hat General Hospital in Alberta, positions at Good Samaritan Hospital and California Hospital in Extended Care in Los Angeles, and Director of Nursing roles before working at Queen of Angeles Hospital until her retirement in 1986. In establishing this scholarship, Mrs. Harrington Ramsay-Butler stated 'I wish to assist worthy students to enter this rewarding profession.'
