About this opportunity
The Cordwainers Dato' Jimmy Choo BA Awards provide £1,000 each to 2 students currently enrolled in their final year of the BA (Hons) Cordwainers Fashion Bags and Accessories or BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear courses at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. The awards help to fund the students' main final major project. In common with other Livery Companies, the Cordwainers Company was historically responsible for the governance and quality control of its trade in the City of London and the education and training of craftsmen through the system of apprenticeships. To help ensure the BA (Hons) Cordwainers courses remain open to talented students, regardless of their background and economic circumstances, The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers provides bursaries to footwear and accessories students to contribute towards students' main project. Winners of these awards must demonstrate academic merit and show they have the commercial acumen required to succeed within the industry upon graduation. Students cannot apply directly; they will be nominated by their tutors and must pitch to a panel of judges, one of whom will be a member of the Cordwainers' Company.
