About this opportunity
This scholarship was established by the late Mary Avato, widow of Cosmo Avato, a Westfield State Class of 1950 graduate. The scholarship's goal is to provide financial assistance to students graduating from the Springfield Public School system who are currently enrolled at Westfield State as full-time undergraduate Education majors. Applicants must maintain a GPA of 2.8 or higher. Preference will be given to those who demonstrate self-discipline, a desire to help others, and who maximize the educational experience for themselves and others. Additional preference is given to first-generation students pursuing a higher degree who were born in the United States, as well as commuter students. This scholarship honors the legacy of Cosmo Avato and his commitment to education.
