About This Opportunity

The China Scholarship Council (CSC) Scholarship for PhD's at Erasmus University Rotterdam is a funding opportunity for Chinese students pursuing doctoral research. The program is a partnership between the China Scholarship Council, a Chinese governmental organization, and Erasmus University Rotterdam. For successful applicants, Erasmus University Rotterdam covers full tuition fees and research fees, while CSC provides a living allowance as prescribed by the Chinese Government, including health insurance, return international airfare to the Netherlands by the most economical route, and visa application fees. The scholarship is valued at approximately €2,000 per month for a period of 48 months, covering health insurance, international airfare, and living expenses. Applicants must have a letter of acceptance for a PhD programme at Erasmus University Rotterdam and must be conditionally admitted to the relevant graduate school. The scholarship is open to Chinese nationals who are not older than 35 years at the start of the new academic year in the Netherlands. The scholarship supports PhD research at participating faculties including Erasmus School of Law (ESL), Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (ESHCC), Erasmus Medical Centre (EMC), and Institute for Housing Studies (IHS). The study or research period must be at least 48 months. The application process involves first securing a PhD position and supervisor, obtaining admission to the graduate school, and then being nominated by the PhD supervisor before applying through the CSC online application portal. The selection process involves EUR's Scholarships Team providing CSC with a list of nominated candidates in March, after which CSC selects scholarship recipients and informs candidates around June. Applicants must meet English language requirements and CSC selection criteria, and their bachelor and master degrees must be in the same field as their research project.
