CSIRO Industry PhD Program

The CSIRO Industry PhD Program is a four-year research training program focusing on applied research that benefits industry by solving real-world challenges. It aims to produce the next generation of innovation leaders. The program provides substantial financial support through a stipend of $46,000 per annum for up to four years. This specific project involves developing a model of material dynamics and heat transfer within a commercial vertical induction heating reactor for plastic recycling. The research addresses a significant scientific knowledge gap in understanding the rheology and thermal behaviour of bulk plastic melt-flows, with potential to deliver significant impact to the Australian recycling industry and wider process design communities. The program requires full-time enrollment as a PhD student and includes onboarding to CSIRO with mandatory government background checks.
