About this opportunity
The DAAD-NRF Joint Scholarship Programme South Africa supports postgraduate training in fields with strong relevance for national development, aiming at university staff development and public sector demand of academically trained personnel. The programme is jointly administered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and South Africa's National Research Foundation (NRF). The scholarship provides financial support for Master's and PhD studies for South African nationals or permanent residents. Female applicants are especially encouraged to apply. Applications are submitted through NRF, and final selection is made by a panel consisting of university professors and representatives of both NRF and DAAD. Successful candidates receive annual stipends of ZAR 80,000 for Master's studies or ZAR 110,000 for PhD studies.
