Dallas Geological Society Scholarship

The Dallas Geological Society (DGS) Scholarship Endowment Scholarships, including the Hilsewick, Shepherd, Sistrunk, Stanley, and Dodge scholarships, are one-year awards given to current undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a degree in Geological Sciences. These scholarships are administered through the Communities Foundation of Texas and support students who reside in or whose parents reside in the Dallas area. Selection is based on academic achievement, financial need, and school and extracurricular activities. Preference is given to undergraduates who have completed 12 semester hours of advanced or core geology courses beyond the introductory level. Graduate student applicants are required to include an outline or abstract of their thesis topic. The number of recipients and award amounts vary each year, with awards up to $5,000 per recipient. This opportunity supports the advancement of geological sciences education and helps students from the Dallas area pursue careers in geology and related fields.
