Frey Award for Breakthrough Scientists provides additional investment in exceptional young scientists who have greatly exceeded expectations during their Damon Runyon Fellowship. These spectacular scientists are selected as those most likely to make paradigm-shifting breakthroughs that transform the way we prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. The award provides additional financial support to enable these scientists to continue the pursuit of bold and innovative ideas, accelerate the path to independence, and encourage a continued career in cancer research. The award is designed to catapult the research careers and impact on cancer of these exceptional individuals who have demonstrated exceptional productivity and significant accomplishments during their Fellowship. Selection is based on exceptional productivity during the Fellowship, potential to become a leader in cancer research, and potential of the research to impact cancer prevention, diagnosis, or treatment.
