About this opportunity
The Damon Runyon Fellowship Award supports early-career postdoctoral researchers conducting innovative cancer research. The Foundation encourages all theoretical and experimental research relevant to the study of cancer and the search for cancer causes, mechanisms, therapies and prevention including molecular approaches to cancer prevention for inherited cancers. Fellows work under the guidance of a Sponsor—a scientist in a tenured, tenure-track or equivalent position. Awards are granted for a four-year term with annual funding contingent upon satisfactory progress reports. Fellows attend retreats in their first and third years designed to foster collaboration and interaction between scientists working in different fields relevant to cancer. The program emphasizes broadening and strengthening the candidate's ability to independently conduct innovative and substantive research, with proposed research and training representing a new opportunity to expand their scientific skill set rather than direct extensions of graduate work.
