About this opportunity
The Dan F Jones Scholarship in Science was established through the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation in 1998 by a bequest from Dan Fletcher Jones, who retained an active and enquiring interest in science and mathematics. The scholarship is awarded to students completing an Honours degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Earth Sciences at Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need, specifically targeting students who are facing financial hardship. Recipients must be current students enrolled full-time in an Honours programme in one of the specified science disciplines. The scholarship provides financial support of $7,000 (subject to funds available) for one year and cannot be deferred. Recipients are expected to act as Ambassadors for the University and must provide a letter of thanks to the donor and an end of year progress report.
