About This Opportunity

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) offers a comprehensive scholarship, grant, and contest application portal for students pursuing higher education. The program provides numerous scholarship opportunities ranging from $1,000 to $25,000 across diverse fields including nursing, medicine, occupational/physical therapy, law, business administration, English, math, chemistry, music (voice or piano only), American history, history, government, American Studies, historic preservation, horticulture, and elementary/secondary education. The application process is open from November 1st through January 31st at 11:59 PM Hawaii Time each calendar year. Applicants must submit a personal statement of 1,000 words or less, transcripts, proof of United States citizenship, a one-page document of extracurricular activities and achievements, and two to four letters of recommendation. Special scholarships are available for Native American students (requiring proof of tribal membership) and DAR members or descendants. All applications undergo a rigorous review process where each eligible application is independently evaluated by three judges using standardized rubrics. Recipients are notified by the second week of May, and scholarship awards are issued in August/September for the Fall Semester directly to the recipient's academic institution.

Review process

Each eligible scholarship application is reviewed independently by three judges using a standardized rubric unique to each scholarship. Scores are averaged and converted to a 100-point scale.
