Darren Derbyshire Memorial Award

The Darren Derbyshire Memorial Award is a scholarship in memory of Darren Derbyshire who dealt with life and its 'gifts' with dignity and strength. Darren quietly performed his job, excelling by determination and yet was always willing to share knowledge and lend a hand whenever it was asked for. He had a gentle demeanor but was passionate about those he cared for and football (soccer) which he loved. Darren was always truthful and respectful in everything he did. This scholarship is intended to recognize a student who exhibits some of Darren Derbyshire's qualities and demonstrates financial need. The award supports full-time Red Deer Polytechnic students who attended a post-secondary program in the most recent academic year and are continuing full-time studies in the subsequent year of their program. Applicants must demonstrate determination to overcome obstacles with dignity and strength, reflecting the character and values that Darren embodied throughout his life.
