Data Science for Satellite Remote Sensing and Earth Science Research

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. The post-doctoral fellow will apply machine learning and/or other data science techniques to conduct scientific research, improve remote sensing data products and analysis, integrate machine learning with physics-based models, and/or improve processing of remotely-sensed Earth Science data. The fellow will be a part of the NASA Earth eXchange (NEX). Current NEX activities include exploiting global geostationary operational satellites for Earth science research and applications, synthesizing low-earth orbiting and geostationary satellite remote sensing for research and applications, modeling terrestrial and marine/aquatic systems, climate downscaling and resilience, and developing open science tools and software for science data processing.
