About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects. This specific opportunity focuses on data science research with the Interagency Implementation and Advanced Concepts Team (IMPACT) at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), which supports the NASA Earth Science Data Systems program. The IMPACT team seeks to integrate NASA's Earth observation data into decision-making and develops new solutions for Earth science data management and dissemination. Available research areas include: development of innovative data science applications for information extraction from large data archives; assessment of new and disruptive technologies to enhance NASA Earth science data systems efficiency; development of machine learning techniques for complex Earth science problems; improvement in user experience with NASA data and services; and development of large-scale data analysis and processing pipelines in cloud computing environments. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in Earth science.
