About this opportunity
The David Beltz Memorial Award recognizes excellence in graduate student essay writing in English literature at the University of Waterloo. Two awards are given annually, one to a Master's student and one to a Doctoral student, each valued at a minimum of $150. The awards are presented to students who have written the best essays on literature submitted in graduate courses during the past calendar year (Winter, Spring, Fall). Faculty members in the Department of English Language and Literature nominate essays from their courses, and a departmental committee adjudicates the awards each February. Recipients must be or must have been registered full-time in a graduate program in the Department of English Language and Literature in the Faculty of Arts within the past calendar year. The value and/or number of awards may vary from year to year depending on the income generated by the fund.
