About This Opportunity

The David Clarke Memorial Scholarship was established in 2011 to provide assistance to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and potential, and who are Sydney University rugby players with ambitions for higher achievements in the sport of rugby. The successful applicant must embody the values and high standards of integrity that David Clarke represented throughout his life. This sports scholarship is designed to support both undergraduate and postgraduate students who have completed at least 48 credit points in their degree and maintain active participation in The University of Sydney Rugby Union Team. The scholarship is valued at $15,000 per annum and is tenable for up to one year, paid in two equal instalments after the relevant census date of each semester. Applicants are selected based on academic merit, a personal statement demonstrating their embodiment of David Clarke's values and their ambitions in rugby, and if needed, personal circumstances. The scholarship will be awarded by a selection committee chaired by the Vice Chancellor or their nominee, after nomination by the Manager of The University of Sydney Rugby Club. Recipients must maintain a minimum semester average mark (SAM) of 65 and remain active participants in the University of Sydney Rugby Union Team.
