About This Opportunity

The David J. Weber Prize is given annually by the Western History Association for the best non-fiction book on Southwestern America. The competition is open to any non-fiction book, including biography, on any aspect of Southwestern life, past or present. The purpose of the prize is to promote fine writing and original research on the American Southwest. The award includes a $2,500 cash prize and an invitation to give the annual David J. Weber Prize Lecture at Southern Methodist University. All submissions must have a copyright date matching the award year. The prize honors David J. Weber, the Founding Director of the Clements Center and past WHA President.
