About this opportunity
The David & Jock MacLeod Memorial Award is granted to a student entering their fourth year of study in the DVM program at the Atlantic Veterinary College who has demonstrated an extraordinary love and compassion for animals. This award was established in memory of Dave MacLeod, a junior high school teacher, and his beloved Scot Tzu companion dog, Jock. Dave MacLeod was known for his deep compassion for animals and his hatred of animal abuse or neglect. After Dave passed away from cancer, Jock became a source of comfort for Dave's wife, Joanne, demonstrating the special bond between humans and animals. Because of this special relationship, the scholarship was established to honor students who exhibit similar qualities of extraordinary love and compassion for animals in their veterinary studies.
