About this opportunity
The Davidson Fellows Scholarship recognizes outstanding young people under 18 years of age who have completed significant projects that have the potential to benefit society in the fields of science, technology, mathematics, music, literature, philosophy, and outside the box. The music category accepts applications from composers, classical instrumentalists, and other instrumentalists (such as jazz or bluegrass musicians). Applicants must submit a comprehensive portfolio demonstrating their breadth and depth as musicians, including performance recordings and reflective essays about their work. The scholarship requires two nominator forms from individuals familiar with the applicant's work, and applicants must complete three attachments: a Process Essay detailing their creative journey, a Reflective Essay on the meaning and social relevance of music, and a 10-minute video describing their work. Only human-generated compositions are accepted, and the program emphasizes demonstrating significant accomplishment in musical performance or composition at an exceptionally high level.
