About this opportunity
The Dawn Callaghan Accelerated Nursing Award is granted to a student entering the second year of the Accelerated Nursing program at UPEI who intends to work as a nurse on Prince Edward Island and is in the greatest financial need. Frank and Dawn Callaghan have a long history with Prince Edward Island's university. Dawn attended Prince of Wales College and is an alumna of the PEI Hospital School of Nursing. Frank, who passed away in November 2022, attended Saint Dunstan's University and completed his engineering degree at Nova Scotia Technical College as a mechanical engineer. Kara, Frank and Dawn's daughter, is a graduate of UPEI's Accelerated Nursing program. In 2015, Frank and Dawn decided to give back through the creation of an award supporting a student in the UPEI Accelerated Nursing program in honour of the importance that UPEI and its former institutions have played in the Callaghan family's education and careers.
