About This Opportunity

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Study Award provides financial support for teachers in New Zealand to pursue the Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) at Massey University. This annual study award is designed to help teachers develop specialized skills in teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. The award covers domestic tuition fees, travel and accommodation costs for attending block courses, and employer contributions for teacher release time. Priority is given to applicants with experience working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students, those fluent in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL), and teachers of Māori or Pasifika descent. Applicants must be currently and permanently employed as teachers in New Zealand and have at least 2 years of teaching experience in schools or early childhood education. The award requires employer approval and support, as well as concurrent acceptance into the Massey University diploma program.
