Dean James E. Johnson Scholarship

The Dean James E. Johnson Scholarship is awarded to full-time incoming freshman students at Eastern Illinois University who demonstrate well-defined academic goals and a broad interest in sports and recreation in American life. Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and demonstrate impeccable character. Financial need is also a consideration in the selection process. This scholarship provides valuable financial support to help students pursue their academic goals while engaging with sports and recreation. Past recipients may reapply for the award in subsequent years provided they continue to meet the eligibility criteria. The award is announced in the Spring and disbursed in the following Fall semester, either as a lump sum or split between Fall and Spring semesters.
