Dewey H. Amos Geology and Earth Science Scholarship

The Dewey H. Amos Geology and Earth Science Scholarship is awarded to junior-level students majoring in Geology or Earth Science at Eastern Illinois University. The scholarship evaluates candidates based equally on academic scholarship (50%) and service and participation in departmental activities (50%). Eligible students must demonstrate a minimum 2.8 overall GPA and a 3.2 GPA in their major coursework. Active participation and leadership in departmental field trips, clubs, lectures, and similar academic activities is required. The scholarship is not automatically awarded to the student with the highest GPA but rather considers a holistic view of academic achievement and departmental engagement. Students who receive or are scheduled to receive another university or departmental award in the same year are not eligible. Financial need is not a factor in the selection process. This award is announced and disbursed in the Spring semester and is available to students who complete the General Application through the university's scholarship portal.
