About this opportunity
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope's Coronagraph Instrument, a technology demonstration set for launch in the mid-2020s. The Coronagraph Instrument will showcase a number of technologies together in space for the first time to achieve a 100-1000 fold improvement on current and near-term proposed coronagraphs. The Roman Coronagraph Instrument will be a key stepping stone to a future coronagraph capable of imaging exo-Earths. The program seeks qualified applicants to help plan and execute the Roman Coronagraph technology demonstration and possible follow-on science investigations at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.
