About this opportunity
The Distinguished Book Award recognizes the most outstanding book published by a SSSR member or members within the past two years. This award is presented by the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion to honor scholarly monographs that demonstrate exceptional quality of scholarship, importance to the field, and relevance to the larger society. Any book involving some aspect of the scientific study of religion is eligible for consideration. The award includes both a plaque and a $1,000 cash prize, which is presented at the SSSR Annual Meeting. To be eligible, at least one of the authors of a nominated book must be an SSSR member at the time of nomination. Only scholarly monographs are considered; edited volumes are not eligible for this award.
