Diversity in School Nursing Scholarship

The Diversity in School Nursing Scholarship is intended to provide financial support for registered nurses employed in schools from historically underrepresented racial/ethnic backgrounds to pursue advanced education in health-related sciences. This scholarship originated as the Donna Mazyck Award in 2023, honoring the former NASN Executive Director who served from 2011 to 2023 and was passionate about facilitating student well-being and connecting helpers focused on student health, safety, and learning. The NASN Scholarship Committee selects one recipient annually. Recipients receive scholarship funds (up to $2,500 based on available endowment funds) as well as complimentary registration to the NASN annual conference during the year the scholarship is awarded. The recipient's name is announced at the conference and communicated to the NASN membership. Applicants must be current NASN members for at least two years, hold an active RN license, work full-time as a school nurse, be currently accepted or enrolled in an educational program, hold a bachelor's degree or higher, and be from a historically underrepresented racial/ethnic background in health-related sciences. The scholarship targets individuals who identify as Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, or other Pacific Islander.
