About this opportunity
The NASSH Diversity Recognition for Emerging and Non-Traditional Scholars Award is designed to recognize an emerging scholar for their active contribution to the diversity of NASSH through their choice, as a self-identified member of a minority group, to be engaged in sport history and also, where appropriate, through research contributions that broaden and enhance our knowledge about diverse contexts within sport history. The award is open to post-doctoral untenured individuals who self-identify as belonging to a minority group based on ethnic/racial identification, particularly, but not limited to, individuals who identify as being a member of the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color) community. This includes those who are tenure or non-tenure track; adjunct faculty; public historians; and/or independent scholars. The winner will have their conference registration waived for that year, receive official acknowledgement at the conference, and receive a financial award. The provision and amount of the financial award is conditional upon the approval of the Executive Board. Although an applicant may apply in multiple years, a scholar can only win this award once.
