About this opportunity
The Catholic Biblical Association awards up to five annual stipends of $5,000 each to doctoral candidates (Ph.D., Th.D., S.T.D.) who are engaged in writing their dissertations in biblical or related studies. D.Min. candidates are not eligible. Applicants must be CBA members enrolled in an accredited doctoral program. The program was established in 2024 to support emerging scholars in the field of biblical studies as they complete their doctoral research and dissertation writing. Applications are evaluated on the basis of merit, with preference normally given to applicants who have not received a grant from the CBA in the recent past. Recipients are required to submit a report to the CBA Office at the conclusion of the award period and are expected to present their supported research in a Research Report or panel at the Annual General Meeting within two years of receiving the grant.
