About this opportunity

The Medical Research Council (MRC) is offering funding to deliver doctoral training in areas within its core remit and priorities. This funding opportunity will support the development of a highly skilled workforce equipped to address medical research and innovation challenges across a range of careers. The programme aims to deliver doctoral training across a broad range of research that directly aligns with MRC's remit of discovery and translational research to accelerate diagnosis, advance treatment and prevent human illness. The overall objectives are to support workforce development, advance understanding and generate new knowledge, support a diverse doctoral community, and enhance collaboration and knowledge exchange within and between academia and other sectors. MRC anticipates supporting up to approximately 200 notional studentships in total per year, initially for three annual intakes starting in October 2027. Awards will provide funding for four-year doctoral programmes including stipend, fees, research training support grant, and travel and subsistence, with 100% of the full economic cost funded.

Review process
