About this opportunity

This funding opportunity supports doctoral training in areas within the Medical Research Council (MRC)'s core remit and priorities. The program aims to develop a highly skilled workforce equipped to address medical research and innovation challenges across a range of careers, advancing understanding and generating new knowledge while supporting a diverse doctoral community. Funding is provided for approximately 200 notional studentships per year, initially for three annual intakes starting October 2027, with the possibility of two further intakes following satisfactory review. Organizations must be UK research organisations eligible for UKRI funding, with strong encouragement for multi-organisation consortia applications. The program embeds collaborative studentships (formerly iCASE) and covers 100% of the full economic cost.
