About this opportunity
The scholarship was founded to honor Don Jakeway, a life-long resident of Johnstown, Ohio. Mr. Jakeway was a highly decorated World War II paratrooper who earned four Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts along with numerous foreign decorations. He became involved in his community through Kiwanis, Village Council, and the athletic boosters, and is credited by the community for bringing youth baseball to Johnstown. This scholarship supports graduating seniors of Johnstown Monroe High School who plan to attend college in the United States. The scholarship provides a minimum of $500 to students who may attend full-time or part-time, with a minimum enrollment of six credit hours per term. Preference may be given to those pursuing a career in education, sports management, or athletic-related fields, though candidates may pursue a degree in any field of study.
