About This Opportunity

The Donald Bornhold Memorial Entrance Scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding students entering first year in the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo. Several scholarships, valued at up to $1,500 each, are available to eligible recipients. This scholarship fund was established through a generous donation from the Margaret Bornhold Estate in honour and memory of Margaret's late husband, Donald Bornhold. The scholarship recognizes academic excellence and is available to students enrolled in various Mathematics programs including Honours Mathematics, Computer Science, Mathematics/Business Administration, Mathematics/Financial Analysis and Risk Management, Mathematics/Chartered Professional Accountancy, and Double Degree programs with Business Administration and Computer Science. Selection is based on academic performance, information provided in the Admission Information Form (AIF), and contest results administered through the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC). This entrance scholarship does not require a separate application, as recipients are automatically considered during the admissions process based on their academic credentials and performance in CEMC contests. The award is available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents entering undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo.
