About this opportunity
The Doreen Bryant Memorial Welcome Scholarship honors the late Doreen Bryant, a passionate advocate for new settlers to Australian society who volunteered as an English educator with AMES. The scholarship supports displaced individuals on humanitarian or asylum-seeking visas beginning their studies at Swinburne University. The scholarship recognizes that these students may arrive with limited resources and face challenges such as non-recognition of prior qualifications or skills. The scholarship provides $10,000 per annum for the normal duration of an undergraduate degree, for up to a maximum of five years. If the recipient completes their undergraduate degree and chooses to pursue postgraduate studies, the scholarship will extend to support honours or master's level study in the fourth and fifth years. The scholarship aims to support students demonstrating resilience, determination, and commitment to their community, both in their home country and throughout their journey to Australia.
