Douglas E Smith Memorial Scholarship in the Faculty of Arts

The Douglas E Smith Memorial Scholarship in the Faculty of Arts is awarded annually to students in the General BA program at the University of Alberta. The scholarship recognizes academic excellence for students who have completed their first-year or second-year studies while carrying a full course load. Two awards are given each year: one to a student who has completed first-year studies and one to a student who has completed second-year studies. Recipients are selected based on the highest Grade Point Average in their respective years. The scholarship is endowed by the family and friends of the late Douglas E Smith in recognition of his distinguished service as Head of the Department of Psychology and as Dean of Arts at the University of Alberta. Students are automatically considered for this award based on their completed General Application and do not need to submit a separate application.
