About This Opportunity

Awarded to a PEI resident who has attended a PEI high school and is entering the first year of full-time studies at UPEI. The award shall be given on the basis of academic merit to a student who is not on a full tuition scholarship, and who has demonstrated financial need. This scholarship was established by the Province of Prince Edward Island in memory of Dr. Albert Bing Ching Young, who came to Prince Edward Island and St. Dunstan's University in 1956 from Hong Kong. Dr. Young graduated in 1960 with his Bachelor of Science degree with highest honours and went on to become a successful investor, developer, philanthropist, and Agent General to Asia for the Province of Prince Edward Island. His generous contributions include support for the Chi Wan Young Canada Games Centre, named in honour of his father. The University of Prince Edward Island conferred an honorary Doctor of Laws degree to Dr. Young in May 1988.
